A Little Taste of Our Life This Past Week...

It started with some brownies and then went from there.... I am NOT a fan of letting my kids eat the brownie batter, cookie dough... anything with raw eggs. Hey, I rarely will eat eggs cooked let alone raw! But, Bryant well.... according to him it just aint livin' if you haven't had a good spoonful of dough/ brownie batter. So, every time without fail... the kids get a little!

Some new and exciting other things that were cooked up... Popovers and Pretzel Dogs! And all with much success!

Okay, enough of the food stuff. After all, we do have more to do around here then just eat!

Today we cleaned and reorganized our play room. By reorganizing I mean throwing away some (Happy Meal toys) and storing others (baby toys).
I walked in on this lovely scene of Batman fighting all the other super heroes. Clearly Batman has an advantage!

And finally today I made Gracie her first official home-made headband! I am SOOO excited about this. I love it!!! And tomorrow I'm conquering hair bows!! Oh, the possibilities!!

My Little Secret...

I HATE cleaning my house! Of course I like it clean, and prefer that it is.... but, I hate doing it! Why? Well, probably because I'm constantly doing it! Or at least it seems that way. I swear every time I turn around there's more toys everywhere, more dirty dishes, and more laundry to wash. So, what am I going to do about it?.... I'm gonna get off this computer and go clean.
Have a great Friday!
And Happy Birthday Julia dear!!

Camping...

This weekend we took the kids camping. Bryant has been waiting until they were old enough... and finally they are! We went to Burke Lake Park and tent camped on Friday night. It was only one night, but we got there around 2 on Friday so we had plenty of time to make the most of it. Nathan helped Bryant put the tent up and then we enjoyed a little fishing and rafting on the lake before dinner; hot dogs and smores! And what do you do once the kids are asleep? You play card games! And our pick is always Phase 10.

Tent up...

Fall games...

When deciding what Nathan should play this fall soccer or T-ball, we completely let him decide. We even threw in the choice of karate. If we went off of hard evidence then T-ball may have won the vote, only because I don't have any videos of him kicking a soccer ball (but he's pretty good at that too). Which is rather amazing seeing how I have absolutely not a single streak of athleticism in my body! But, Daddy well that's a whole nother story! And well karate.... he has plenty of experience with hitting and kicking just not in a controlled learning environment!

So, he chose SOCCER. Which made daddy oh so proud!

It's very exciting that he is finally old enough to start playing sports! He's playing soccer through the county parks department starting in September. And I'm already looking forward to Gracie's 3rd birthday so that she can start dance class.... okay maybe we'll throw in gymnastics as an alternative option... we'll see, momma has her heart set on ballet!

Our Weekend...

It's been a busy weekend here.
  • Air conditioning went out on Thursday... got fixed on Friday. Thank goodness Friday was a beautiful day so having windows open was truly ideal! Unlike today, forcasted to be the hottest day of Summer this year.

  • We planned on taking the kids camping Friday night but due to a repair man being present at the house that little trip was postponed. So, Saturday we got up early and headed to the Zoo. Nathan told me afterwards that he didn't get to see any Giraffes and I told him they didn't have any there, at which he replied, "Mommy Giraffes live at the zoo, of course they were there!".

  • Bryant and I added to the baby fever around the house by serving in the nursery with the infants during church. They're so cuddly how can anyone not want to spend an hour holding them?!

  • Gracie has been going poopy on the potty! In fact when I picked her up from her class at church, her teacher told me that she went poopy there too! I do think that we are still a ways from getting rid of the diapers though.... that just makes me nervous!

  • And I made my first official purchase from Craigslist! A Dora Talking Kitchen! The only other thing that we have ever bought from there was moving boxes... and Bryant handled that transaction.

A little backwards...

Reader beware: this is about the potty!

Gracie, is very into going on the potty. She still occasionally will go in her diaper... but, more often than not she puts herself on the potty. It really is nice cause I don't have to put too much thought into potty training her when she is basically doing it herself. HOWEVER, we are having some poopy in the potty issues. This is where it gets a little backwards, she poops THEN sits on the potty! And she insists on taking her diaper off with it still being dirty by herself! She doesn't even tell us, we usually just hear her placing her potty seat up on the toilet and then walk into the bathroom with her sitting on her throne with a dirty diaper on the floor. So, clearly she does not like the idea of being dirty! But, how do I get her to poop in the potty???!!!
Bryant had the clever idea of her not wearing a diaper, just underwear.... didn't work! I am open to suggestions....

Toddler Fever Anyone?!

You've always heard of baby fever, right?! Well, 3 good friends of ours just had 3 amazing babies... and well it's bringing on some baby fever! So, I got to thinking last night.... I don't think I've heard anyone say that they had the toddler fever. Then I look at my amazing 2 children, one a toddler the other a preschooler... and at that moment when they are screaming at each other, hitting and throwing toys, I understood why I've never heard the term toddler fever spoken from anyone's lips! And it is moments like this that I remind myself that ALL children in ALL stages of life are a unique and wonderful gift from God!

Congratulations Elizabeth, Martinique, and Vicky on the births of your beautiful babies!!

Jesus Loves Me...

Gracie's vocabulary lately is just taking off! We always find her singing songs from church around the house. Here's one that we wanted to share with you!
