A Fancy 5...

For this 5 year old, she has been looking forward to this day for a long time.  Every kid always looks forward to their birthday.  But, for Gracie she was told a couple of years ago that when she turned 5 she could get her ears pierced.  So, today was the big day!!

After getting her ears pierced at the mall, we went over to Red Robin for lunch.  The servers all came out clapping and singing a special Happy Birthday song as they brought our birthday girl a hot fudge sundae.  She was embarrassed, she would not look at them... but, she did tell them Thank you.  Nathan, on the other had said, "Can we come here for my birthday?!".

The fancy cake.... not as fancy as we were hoping but, it will do just fine.

Happy Birthday Miss Gracie Rose!

No Gold Here...

For Saint Patricks day, this past Saturday we made rainbow pancakes for breakfast.  We were hoping that at the end of our rainbow would be a pot of gold.... but, I never found one.  The rainbow pancakes however, were a huge success with the kids... they scarfed them down! The green milk and green scrambled eggs on the other hand, were not such a huge hit.  They refused the eggs and would only drink their milk after some chocolate had been added to it... and it still looked kinda green then, but it tasted yummy.  Little side note:  Bryant said the eggs looked like something that should be eaten on Halloween.

Rewind a Bit....

There is a  very important date in between March 2nd and March 15th in our house.  March 11th.  That is our anniversary, and this year we have been married for 12 years!

So, on our anniversary this year we decided to copy one of our favorite shows on the Food Network, Cupcake Wars.  It was girls versus boys in our showdown.

Girls: Cherry Coke cupcake with marshino cherries on the inside and topped with fresh whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.

Boys: Chocolate Covered Cherries cupcake with swiss meringue butter cream frosting and a chocolate covered cherry inside the cupcake and up on top.

The tally of points. Girls :1 for taste, Boys: 2 for presentation and display.

Out with the Old and In with the New!

While I do have a lot of making up to do... I just had to do a quick post here of our new bedroom set.  We had our previous set for 10 years, and were very excited to upgrade when our anniversary came around (which was Sunday).  So, here are the old set- new set photos!!

Old set:  (we have a very small bedroom, in fact Bryant's Chest of Drawers is in our closet)

New:  (Bryant's new Chest of Drawers was placed in the closet again.  Which is very difficult to get a picture of, so I didn't.)
The flash did something funky with the coloring of the wood on my dresser... it is the same coloring as the bed.

When daddys away, the cat (in the hat) plays...

Daddy is away on a trip at the moment (to much nicer weather might I add) and the youngest in our tribe is sure up to no good.

This is what I found....  well, this is what Eli was happy to show me.

...and this too.

"Eli, what happened here?".... the answer: ME!!!  Thank goodness these crayons are washable!

And today was Dr. Seuss' birthday!  Eli and I went to Nathan's class to read with the children while Gracie was at Pre-K (I did the reading, in case you were wondering).  But, Gracie also had a special visitor read to her class today too, it was The Cat in the Hat!  And both Nathan and Gracie made Cat in the Hat hats today while at school.  So, I found it only appropriate to put the Cat in the Hat dress up hat on Eli, and take a very "sick pic".  Sorry, I just couldn't think of anything else that rhymed with pic!!  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!  (And if Bryant was home tonight then we would have had green eggs and ham for dinner, but he wasn't, so it was leftover meatloaf.)
